20 May, 2008 -
Trailfinders is delighted that the Fleming’s and Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Melbourne, Victoria has won a Gold Medal at this year’s prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2008.
Following the theme of previous years the garden showcases Australia’s unique flora and fauna and highlights the laid back lifestyle and outdoor living that is enjoyed down under. This year’s garden was designed by Australian celebrity Jamie Durie and features artwork by renowned Aboringinal artist Gabriella Possum Nungarrayi. One of her paintings was presented to the Queen during the royal visit on Monday.
Trailfinders is delighted to add another accolade to it’s trophy cabinet. With over 37 years experience, Trailfinders is the only choice for your next trip.

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Fuel Surcharge Refunds

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have reached an agreement to refund a percentage of the fuel surcharges to clients who purchased tickets between 11 August 2004 and 23 March 2006. This has to be ratified by the US courts and it is expected that full details of the refund procedure will not be available until late April /early May. Trailfinders are unable to accept any requests for refunds on this basis until an approved policy has been released by each respective airline.
Trailfinders Vice Chairman completes Atlantic Double.
04 January, 2008 - Congratulations to Tristan Gooley, Vice Chairman of Trailfinders UK, who arrived at Marigot Bay, St Lucia, on the afternoon of the 1 of January in a 32ft yacht called Golden Eye after 26 days at sea alone.
He is the first European to have both flown solo and sailed single-handed across the Atlantic. In May 07 he flew from Goose Bay, Canada to Oxford, England in a single-engine Cessna Caravan, re-fuelling in Greenland, Iceland and Scotland during the epic 2 day flight.
The only other person to have achieved both is the legendary American navigator, Steve Fossett, who is still missing after a routine flight in Nevada in September.
Tristan is using his achievements to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer, a disease that kills one man every hour. He is also paying tribute to Steve Fossett. Tristan quotes
“It has been a difficult and unusual challenge but that has been a large part of the attraction. I like the fact that more people have walked on the moon than tackled the Atlantic by air and sea alone.”
Aviation Security Measures for Carry-on Baggage at Australian International Airports
31 March 2007 - From today, the Australian Government will introduce enhanced security measures to limit the amount of liquids, aerosols, and gels that can be taken through the screening point for people who are flying to and from Australia.
All containers with drinks, creams, perfumes, sprays, gels, toothpaste and similar substances will have to be carried in a re-sealable transparent plastic bag, no larger than one litre, and be inspected separately at the airport screening point.
Each container should not have a capacity greater than 100 millilitres and all containers should fit comfortably in the re-sealable plastic bag. Exceptions will be made for passengers with medical conditions and quantities of baby food required for the flight. However, these items may be subject to additional security checks. Passengers can still take on board items purchased after the screening point, including duty free.

Fuel Surcharges
Globally airlines impose additional levies to cover the rising cost of aviation fuel. Such levies usually appear in the form an additional tax. As a travel agent, Trailfinders is obliged to collect taxes on behalf of the airline(s) concerned. This may mean that taxes quoted previously may have risen by the time you pay for your airline ticket in full. We will do everything in our power to ensure that you are made aware of this prior to final payment and would like to assure you that Trailfinders has no control over these charges and only passes on fees which are levied on your tickets by the airlines.
Please call your nearest travel centre for further updates.
